Celebrating its 40 year anniversary of its trademark 1.3 liter rotary engine, the 2009 Mazda RX-8 delivers 232 horsepower with its 6-speed manual transmission (212 with its 6-speed automatic). Those that prefer the automatic are not left out of the fun, as they can still manually navigate the gears via a floor pedal or the handy steering wheel-mounted shifting paddles, saving the automatic mode for thick traffic or short runs in the inner city. Available safety features include ABS, traction control, an anti-skidding system and front-side and curtain airbags. Other available features are the sporty red interior leather, 18-inch alloy wheels for show and a firmer suspension for a sportier drive.
The 2009 Mazda RX-8 is an absolute blast to drive. With its high revving rotary engine and responsive controls, every ride is a well-balanced thrill with plenty of gusto to be squeezed out near the redline. The swooping exterior shape and overall rakish design implies the speed and power this machine can deliver, and once behind the wheel, its certainly doesn't disappoint.
