The all-new Mazda 2 proves that small cars no longer have to be poor quality and uncomfortable. This genuinely attractive compact shows you can get excellent value, great efficiency and a wonderfully zippy vehicle for a price you can’t beat.
Fuel economy should be mentioned first, as the 2011 Mazda 2 delivers 28 MPG in the city, and a stupendous 35 MPG on the highway, putting this fuel-sipper at the top of its class. The 1.5 liter 100HP engine is more than enough to propel this little car, and handling is precise and acceleration is plentiful. The 5-door hatchback configuration offers plenty of versatility and room, and the Mazda 2 is loaded with safety features, including ABS, stability control, traction control and electric power steering.
Handling and performance is impressive. The shifts are remarkably smooth, the engine is willing and the car is far more responsive than you might expect. The small size allows easy threading through traffic, and managing curves and turns are a cinch thanks to tight steering and a firm balance, and we find the Mazda 2 beats its primary competitor, the Honda Fit, in all handling and performance tests we have executed. Stable on broken tarmac, flatter through corners, and an overall tighter experience all make the Mazda 2 the better car performance-wise.
The all-new Mazda 2 proves “Fun” and “Frugal” can be available in one attractive package. It’s a sweet performer, sharp looker and an incredible value. Visit South Mazda Miami today, and take one for a spin. It’s handsome looks and smooth performance will win your heart over.

Mazda continues the full update to its vehicles with the new “Nagare” design philosophy, and none show it better than the 2011 Mazda5. Nagare, which translates to “Flow” in English, is a concept of proportions and surface language, light and shadow, and acute proportional design. This translates physically as bodylines that flow like liquid across a smooth, seamless design, with no distinguishing marks to detract from the overall theme.
On the new 2011 Mazda5, these design considerations don’t just look good, but also improve aerodynamics and fuel efficiency. Swooping creases appear sculpted by the wind, and help it move along the sides of the vehicle while in motion.
As for the interior, it remains spacious for six. The dual sliding doors allow quick access and exits, and the cargo and passenger areas are artfully designed to be flexible for both. Improved materials and revised equipment all better elevate the cabin to a more luxurious display. When it arrives later this fall, we expect it to top its class and become the new standard for mini-vans in America. Stay posted to our blog, and visit our site for the most up-to-date information on the new 2011 Mazda5 and the entire Mazda line-up.
Caranddriver.com put the Mazda 3 under a long-term test, and have beaming comments to share about it. Lively behind the wheel, the Mazda 3 performed wonderfully throughout the winter months – a concern we South Floridians are not familiar with, but it does say a lot about the reliability of the Mazda 3. After all, if the Mazda 3 can deliver on wet, slushy snow, it can certainly manage the rain and slick roads South Florida sometimes throws at us.
Fuel economy was a solid plus for the Car and Driver editors, along with the outright reliability of the engine and other mechanics. The long-term Mazda test is now well over 10,000 miles, and there have been no out-of-pocket expenses outside of the scheduled service at 10,000 (which was only $51).
Performance on the road has been wonderful. The editors mention its “surprisingly playful demeanor” and the shifting “light, smooth action, which make the long commutes to the office much easier”. It is quiet and refined on the highway, and the 43 cubic feet of cargo space has helped out on more than one occasion in delivering a copious amount of supplies for a few camping trips in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula.
So far, the professional car magazine editors have had a struggle to find any fault with the vehicle. This shows how much attention to detail goes into the building of these things, and what an absolute value is to be had with the Mazda 3 and all other Mazdas, for that sake. It has won over the Car and Driver staff with its greater levels of refinement and fun-to-drive nature, marking this one of the best values for someone shopping for a budget vehicle that still has a lot of gusto under the hood. Check out the Mazda3 today at South Motors in Miami.
